Frequently Asked Questions
When are your activities?
We have regular game nights on every Monday and every other Friday (even weeks). We open at 17:00, games start around 18:00 and we finish around 21:00. If you’re new it’s always a good idea to show up before 18:00 to find a group. Sometimes we also host or attend events where we run games. Information about those can be found under Events.
Where are you located?
Spelens Hus, Nobelvägen 145A, 212 15 Malmö.
Do I need to let you know that I plan to attend before showing up?
Not for our regularly scheduled game nights on Mondays and Fridays. Some of our special events have specific sign-ups, in which case you'll find more information on the Events page.
Do I need to sign up for games?
No, but it might be a good idea to check on Discord if anybody is running a game for beginners next game night. There’s almost always a game or two running for new players on Mondays, depending on the availability of gamemasters and number of new players but we can't guarantee an available game. If there isn’t one available, maybe give running a game a try?
I want to be a Game Master for the first time, can I get some help?
Sure! Either contact us beforehand if you want more prep time or ask anyone from the board on one of the game nights. They will help you as much as they can!
How do I find a group?
There’s almost always one or two groups running “one-shots” on Monday’s for new players. If you’re looking for a longer commitment there’s only one way: Ask people. We have a “Looking for Group” channel on Discord for both Game Master and players, and you can always talk to people at our game nights. They may very well want to play the exact thing you’re looking for!
What is your policy regarding children / young players?
They are always welcome! We cannot, however, guarantee that every game is open to, or suitable, for children. Talk with the Game Master beforehand to make sure you're on the same page. We have also had more than one young game master that themselves have run games from time to time!
Do I need previous experience with roleplaying?
Nope! Games for new people are almost always geared towards teaching the game to people that have never tried it before. You can also always check with a more senior member or board member, they will try their best to get you started. Roleplaying is something that you practise and get better at, but everyone has to start somewhere.
What games do you play?
There’s a huge variety of games at Rolls. Dungeons & Dragons 5e is the most common game, but there’s always something else going on such as Dread, Nordiska Väsen, Root, Through the Breach, For the Queen, Star Wars or Fallout. We have a lot of different source books for systems and are willing to acquire new ones if there’s an interest.
Do I need to prepare a character or read the rules beforehand?
No, we have pre-made characters ready for the most popular games. If you’re starting a campaign with someone, discuss it with your Game Master. Some groups like to do character creation together, some apart. Reading the rules is also not something you need to do for your first time. But it’s never a bad idea to come prepared!
What languages do you play in, or have support for?
Most communication is done in Swedish or English. What language each game is held in is up to the Game Master, but these two are the most common by far.
How do we contact you about collaborating as a library, fritidsgård, or other organization/association?
Check under Contact or discuss it with a board member at one of our game nights.
Do you accept donations in the form of minis, books, or other game material?
Yes! But please discuss it with the person in charge of this before donating: Contact or in person.
